Throughout the story, the male members of the Susuhara family have traditionally departed their homes at a specific age, embarking on a solitary journey until they establish themselves independently. The main character, a high school student, has followed in this tradition and is content at his new school. However, his path crosses with a peculiar girl named Toe Kurokami, who carries a doll that seems to possess the ability to grow hair and murmur secrets. The protagonist feels as though encountering her may be a pivotal moment in his life.
