A samurai named Aza Kaneatsu was being chased by the authorities during the Meiji Era. Faced with no escape route, he plunged into a nearby lake despite his inability to swim. Sadly, he met his fate and succumbed to the water.
However, destiny had a different plan for Aza. Surprisingly, he was transported to the future 140 years later, where he encountered the beautiful yet headstrong Higaira Ikkei. Ikkei was next in line to inherit her family's temple, but Aza's sudden appearance stirred things up.
Ikkei's wise grandfather declared that Aza could only return to his time if he experienced true love. With this as his ticket home, Aza set out to win Ikkei's heart.
What ensues is a humorous tale of contrived romance that gradually evolves into real emotion.
